    News from our artists

  • Nanette Workman

As you may well already know, Nanette Workman has just completed her series of concerts with Jimmy James and Breen Leboeuf at the Montreal Casino. Called Mississippi Queen, this critically acclaimed series presenting music from the southern U.S. was delivered to sold-out crowds during the past three weeks. A very big "Thank You" to everyone who participated in and assisted this wonderful event! For those who want more on Nanette, be sure to check out Generation 70 on Musimax and La Rivière des Jérémies on Radio-Canada, where she will have a recurring role opposite William Hurt and many others.

As for Roots 'N' Blues, Nanette's recent masterpiece, it has already sold over 10,000 copies and we are now off to develop the Anglo-Canadian market, which could make it the biggest selling Quebec-produced blues album ever!

Nanette was also nominated for a Felix at the annual Gala de L'ADISQ, presented on October 28th in the category "Artist who has distinguished him or herself in a language other than French." She did not win, however, but at least our label still exists, unlike this year's winner!!!…

  • Stephen Barry

2001 has marked an original return for Stephen Barry. After four years of constant touring with his own band and many of his friends (Susie Arioli, Robert David, Michael Jerome Browne…), Stephen has taken a step back from his usual full-scale blues offerings and delivered a powerful folk album. Combining an almost country feel to his usual, often personal yet vivid songwriting. As always, Stephen's loyal friends - Andrew Cowan, Jordan Officer, Gordon Adamson and Jody Gollick - have accompanied him on this wonderful trip through undiscovered terrain.

  • Mononc' Serge

Finally, Mononc' Serge knows success. Since his self-produced video, Marijuana, was picked up by Musiqueplus and Musimax and his hits; Le Caniche, Marijuana, Couscous and Le Gala de L'ADISQ were number 1 at many radio stations, including COOL-FM, he has continued to climb the popularity ladder over the past 18 months. And with his new album, Mon voyage au Canda, Mononc' Serge keeps on doing what he loves best…trashing!

  • Soraya Benitez

Bros Productions has recently collaborated with one of the most incredible voices of Venezuela, Soraya Benitez. Her much-awaited first album is finally on every shelf and she will be touring Quebec in the near-future. Don't miss this wonderful artist, who has been compared to such greats as Mercedes Sosa, Virginia Rodriguez and Cesaria Evora!!

  • Big Jack Johnson

Back for another tour of Eastern Canada, Big Jack Johnson will be treating his fans, old and new, to another series of memorable concerts, delivering his grinding Mississippi blues with his pure, unadulterated energy.

  • Celso Fonseca

In order to produce and distribute the best in Blues and South American music, Bros Productions have launched "Paradiso" by Celso Fonseca and Ronaldo Bastos. Both are not very well-known in Canada, but they are pioneers in today's Brazilian music scene, working with Bebel Gilberto, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Virginia Rodriguez and Marisa Monte, to name a few. This lovely album is already a favourite in many stores across Quebec and will only gain popularity, as we are currently working on bringing Mr. Fonseca to Canada for a very special tour in 2002! Pick up this album in your favourite music store today!!

  • Urs Karpatz

From Romania, Urs Karpatz are a tribute to their motherland's traditions of gypsy music and bear trainers. Acclaimed by most of Europe's better media, such as "le Monde" and "le Nouvel Observateur", Dimitri and his troubadours are currently crossing through the province, lighting up each stage with their flamboyant personalities and incredible talent. Don't miss out on this rare occasion and let yourself be awestruck by Urs Karpatz, arguably the best gypsy band alive!!
