AND BROS' NEW LABELS...
Wanda Sa, Meirelles e os Copa and Wave are albums from a great Brazilian label called Dubas Musica, specialized in Bossa Nova and MPB. Founded and managed by Ronaldo Bastos (songwriter of "Paradiso", already a Bros album!), they have been one of the focal points of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) for the past few years, releasing quality artists and re-releasing many classics. We have decided to start off our Dubas adventure with these three albums as they personify best what the label is all about!
Wanda Sa takes you back to the styles of the 60s, when Joao Gilberto and Nara Leao were center stage in the bossa-nova style and the song of the moment was "Girl from Ipanema", a wonderful re-edition of one of the most influential albums from Brazil from the lost star of bossa. Wave pays tribute to the sea and its music, combining songs by Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Caetano Veloso, Tom Jobim and Celso Fonseca, plus many others. And Mereilles e os Copa's second and last album, "O Novo Som" is a spectacular album by a jazz master, praised in Brazil and Europe, but relatively unknown in Canada.
As for Ghover Dhan and Pragma - from Sainte-Adèle, QC label Hello Musique - they will definitely be turning a few heads in the next few months as they will both be highly promoted around the province of Quebec. Hello Musique's founder, Pierre Durivage, has been on the French music scene for the past ten years, releasing many great new-age albums, notably Patrick Bernhardt's successful albums in the mid-90s. And with this new project, Mr. Durivage will be broadening his scope, also focusing on popular music. Gover Dhan's album, "Amalgame", is a blend of soothing new-age sounds with an asian, spiritual feel and Pragma have pieced together a high-quality progressive album with pure Quebec folk traditions and will be touring the province in the coming months.

News from our artists
· Le Grand Coeur des Choristes
We have all known someone who has been afflicted by some form of heart disease during our lives. This album, created by an impressive list of artists, most of them back vocalists for some of the biggest stars of Quebec and recorded in many different studios, is a sublime collection of songs written by artists who have lost or been a victim of this serious affliction. Most of the profits on this album will be donated to the YMCA in Montreal, eager to promote a healthy way of life for young and old by keeping them active.
· Soraya Benitez
On February 21st, Soraya performed at the Café Campus, a benefit for "Cran de Femmes". A concert of pure emotion and remarkable talent! But for those who missed this fantastic show, not to worry! She will be touring the province extensively during the spring and summer months, appearing in many shows and festivals and will also be opening for Susanna Baca at Montreal's Spectrum on May 10th. An incomparable voice that soothes even the most heavy-hearted! You can buy her CD in every major record store, as well as online through our Web site.
· Jimmy James
Et Oui! We've just picked up Mr. Jimmy James' albums for distribution and are now booking his trio more extensively. For more than 20 years, Jimmy James has been an integral part of the Canadian Blues scene, playing with Michel Pagliaro, Nanette Workman and Frank Marino. Long considered as one of the best modern blues guitarists in the country, he released two albums, "Calling on Love" (1999) and "Blue Moon Rising" (2001), which were never distributed efficiently… until today! Bros Productions will now have the pleasure of working with Mr. Jimmy James in offering his music nationwide to an ever-growing fan-base! Both "Calling on Love" and "Blue Moon Rising" are now available nationwide, so please ask for them in your local music store.
· Juan Miguel
Native of Dominican Republic and now residing in Toronto, Ontario, Juan Miguel's background is filled with musical talent. On this second album, Ahora Si Remix diversifies its contagious merengue with romantic and meaningful lyrics that will enchant every latino music fan.
· Elyra Campbell
Another recent addition to the Bros world, Elyra Campbell is an already accomplished singer-songwriter from Vancouver, B.C., specializing in pure, yet eclectic, Celtic music. Her songs have already been included on many Celtic compilations in Europe and the U.S., and her first album, the critically acclaimed "Land of Ever", was a relative success. Her next album, named "Girl in a Tree", will stay true to her love of the Irish, with a blend of traditional and original songs! She will be touring the Eastern provinces during the summer, playing the Lunenburg Celtic Festival for a few dates, and we currently are working on showing off her immense talent in many other festivals…more to come!
And we have a winner!!!
Stephen Barry won the Maple Blues Award for the best Bass player. This Toronto Blues Society Awards ceremony celebrates the best of the Canadian Blues scene. To hear Stephen Barry's music, please listen to "Original", his most recent album, on our site. Congratulations Stephen.
As you might have noticed, our Web site has just had a nice make-over. Thanks to Marie-Claude and Nicolas!
